HSL2007 for researchers

Free academic use for personal research and teaching

Much of the core funding for the STFC Numerical Analysis Group is provided by a grant (EP/E053351/1) from EPSRC. As a condition of this grant, we have agreed that the results of the Group's research should be readily available to the academic community.

Since the mathematical software library HSL is one of the most obvious results, versions of the individual library packages are made available without charge and without support to academic users for their individual academic research and teaching purposes - full details of the terms are given in the conditions-of-use form, which all potential users must agree to.

Access to the library is by means of a short-lived individual password-controlled account. Potential users are asked for brief details of the use they intend to make of the package(s) they want to download; this data will help us to evaluate the relevance of our software to academia. Users are required to accept a conditions-of-use form, and are not permitted to divulge their userid and password to anyone, nor to distribute any codes they so obtain to a third party. Applications to use HSL software will be evaluated by the HSL team, so please make sure that the data you provide is complete and accurate. Note that all potential users must have an email address at a recognised academic institution. STFC reserves the right not to grant a licence and will not enter into correspondence on its decision.
